After three years of giving my cameramen the slip, "Lathrop's" story finally comes to a close. The story started in 2008, when Chad Lathrop shot over the back of a nice 10 pointer. We have a tradition on my farm that if you miss a deer we name it after you, so this buck came to be known as "Lathrop."
On December 28, 2008 Chad had a shot at redemption on this buck. He had come out on the edge of a field and we were focused on taking him...that is until a nice 8 point stepped out in front of us. Chad shot the 8 pointer and "Lathrop" lived on.
In August 2009, we encountered him three different times but never at a distance where we could take a shot. Then later in the season he broke off a beam which took him off the hit list.
That brings us to 2010. This season we encountered him three times, but being the cautious buck he is we didn't get a shot at him until the morning of November 15.
Watch the hunt to find out what happens (MW10.14: Iowa Legend).
Also in this episode, the real Lathrop fills his last tag in an exciting hunt for a nice Iowa buck.
