Hunting season may be over, but that dosent mean nothing happens around here. Shed hunting is great way to find next years trophy. The only tools needed are good boots and a persistant personality. A sharp pair of eyes won't hurt either.
My season started last week. I took a drive out to the food plot to setup my feeder and almost ran this small four point over. It is not big by any standards, but at least it is a shed. This is what Brock and myself would classify as a "Bonus Shed". A bonus shed is simply a shed that is found while doing something other than actual shed hunting. Typically they are found when I'm checking my trail cameras, but they can show up anytime and anywhere.
I'm looking for one deer in particular this year. It is a buck thats been on my hitlist for a couple of years. He's a ghost for the most part, and I haven't seen him since mid November. You know him as "The Cookie Jar Buck". I suspect he made it thru the season and will one day show back up. Who knows maybe he will be my next bonus shed!
Good luck to you and happy shedding.
