When hunting areas with small and medium-sized trees put your stand on the back of the tree – the side opposite the direction you expect to see most of the deer.  You’ll have to stand facing the tree most of the time, but the tree trunk will keep your outline from being seen and give your camouflage the maximum opportunity to hide you from prying eyes.

Besides the fatigue of standing for long hours, bowhunters will also have to contend with the difficulty of shooting around the tree trunkBefore the first deer shows up, determine which side of the tree you will shoot from depending on the situations at hand.  Don’t wait to make that decision when a buck suddenly shows up and your brain suddenly shuts down.

Hiding behind the tree trunk is a great way to break up your outline.
