With his first two years of college completed, Chad plans on taking the fall semester off to get in some quality hunting time.  From there he will finish his four year degree at Buena Vista and continue working for Muddy.  Chad and his buddies plan on bringing some exciting footage to Midwest Whitetail.

Chad's Hit List

20090811172040123.jpg"THE BIG SHOW":  This big 10 point is at the top of their hit list.  He is an old buck that would look good hanging on the wall at the end of the year.  "The Big Show" showed up last year with a deer that Colton Cason calls "Blacky." The farm that Chad and Katie hunts borders the farm that Colton hunts so they occasionally run into some of the same bucks.  Colton filmed this buck with "Blacky" last year and thought that he was 4 1/2 last year.  On July 20th of this year, "The Big Show" made an appearance on one of Chad's trail cameras letting everyone know that he was back again this year.

This is "The Big Show" in the summer of 2008 in a bean bottom about 500 yards from where Chad and Katie filmed him this year. You can barely see that he is starting to grow G4s.  Last year he probably would have gross scored in the 140s as a 4 1/2 year-old.

On August 8th of 2009, they were able to film the "The Big Show" on a freshly cut hay field.  This buck showed up with a group of bucks at last light. Check out how much tine length the "The Big Show" has put on in just one year. He is really impressive as he walks toward you. We believe this deer will gross score in the upper 160s this fall.

The two of them plan on hunting "The Big Show" in a funnel of timber connecting a big bedding area to a couple of crop fields.

"BROW TINE BOMBER":  This is one of the first and new big bucks that Chad and Katie were able to put on their hit list this summer.  They have no past history with the buck and have never seen him before.  It all started when a couple of their friends, Travis and Tyson Patton, got video footage of the "Brow Tine Bomber" around the first of July up next to the road.  The characteristics that really stuck out to Chad and Katie on this buck were his brow tines and his overall width.  You can tell that both of his brow tines are about 5 to 6 inches long which is above average, and is also the reason why he got the name "Brow Tine Bomber".  The "Brow Tine Bomber" has started growing some decent G2s and G3s.

Chad has been the only one to see the buck again which was around the end of July.  He had really added tine length on all of his points which may put him in the 160s or higher.  Chad and Katie plan on hunting "Brow Tine Bomber" in the same piece of timber he was filmed by around July 1st.  They have have a couple stands set up already and will venture in there around October 1st to try to get a crack at him with the Hoyt.

20090924155721441.jpg"SPLIT NASTY":  You are probably wondering how and why Chad and Katie came up with the name "Split Nasty" but after you take a look at this buck you will clearly see why.  This is another buck that is new to Chad and Katie this year which showed up on the new farm that they will be hunting.  "Split Nasty" was first seen on trail camera back at the end of May which is the picture that is to the right.  He had just started growing in this picture, but you can clearly tell that he is an old buck when you look at his body.  Along with that, he was starting to grow split brow-tines so they knew that he was going to have a lot of interesting character to his rack.

20090924155719429.jpgAfter they got those pictures at the end of May, "Split Nasty" went missing.  Chad was scared that he may have gotten nervous about the human scent in the area and left.  They ran the cameras all through June and July and never seen any sign of him.  After feeling like they may have pressured "Split Nasty" of the area, Chad and Katie ran the cameras for one last time during the first week of August.  Out of no where, "Split Nasty" showed back up on the 3rd of August. He grew into a giant!  He is the biggest deer on Chad and Katie's hit list this year.  The pictures of him are all at night so Chad and Katie are going to wait until late October to go after him.  It it is going interesting to see if they can take down the old, wise "Split Nasty" with the Hoyt this year.
