Get in the Funnels
Well as they say “business is fixin
to pick up.” Up to this point we have not seen any real
significant rut activity. This morning, November 9th
however I videoed the beautiful 3.5 yr old buck we named Wally Jr.
tied down w/ a hot doe. They were bedded down in the middle of a 85
acre oat plot that’s about 2 ft .tall. The action got better later
in the day when I videoed a true giant on another farm a mile away!
Oh ya some guy named Bill Winke shot a giant November 9th
too!!
I’ve never bought 100% into the moon theories involving the rut, but this year it might be making sense. “Moon Watchers” have predicted the best activity days for deer, aka the best days to be on stand are Nov 9 through next week. Judging by this dismal rut activity so far this year and the sighting of Wally Jr. and the giant 8 this morning we might be headed into the magical time we all wait for.

Get in those funnel stands and eventually you will catch a dandy buck cruising from doe group to doe group trying to find a receptive mate. In addition keep your eyes open in those odd places, i.e middle of fields, ditches, hedgerows, etc. for a buck that might be paired up w/ a mate already.
