Late Season Tactics
Posted By Josh Neville at 12/14/2011 12:00:00 AM

Time to get back in the field. Well it has been since thanksgiving weekend that I have been in a tree stand. At that time the rut was nearly over and rifle season had just ended. I was not getting trail camera pictures of any bucks at all. This was most  likely due to the pressure from rifle season as well as taking a break from the long hard rut.

After this I decided to head back to school and leave the stands alone until finals were all wrapped up to get back in the stand. I will be getting out tomorrow, Dec. 15 once again. There is snow on the ground, the temperatures have dropped and the deer are once again on their feet looking for food. From here to the end of the year should be a great time for hunting and if I cannot get my archery tags filled I will get out the muzzleloader and may have too either way. There is a front moving in tomorrow so it should be a good sit.

I've been hunting hard all year and hoping that luck will turn into my favor here in the late season. Stay on the food sources.
