Todd is co-host of the Midwest Whitetail.com Northeast Show. He has lived in southcentral Pennsylvania for his entire life, now at age 43 he has been hunting ever since it was legal for him to hunt at age 12. He has been married to his wife Tory for 20 years and has three kids. He was introduced to archery at the young age of 8 years old by his dad and a dear friend Gene Klinger who would do just about anything to get kids involved with archery and with the church.
While Todd has arrowed several nice whitetails over the years that he is very proud of, he feels just as proud about his archery skills on the target and 3-D ranges. He has numerous wins and accomplishments in the 1980’s and early 1990’s with one of his top accomplishments being the winning of the pro team IBO World’s Triple Crown for Hoyt with two great shooters Scott Schultz and Randall Jones. That win led them to a poster photo shoot at Hoyt’s headquarters, the introduction of the Super Slam series of bows (wow he is dating himself) and Hoyt’s rise in 3-D competition bows.
Todd bowhunts a lot of public land in the “suburbs” surrounding local towns in southcentral Pennsylvania and Maryland. The terrain in these areas is varied and offers its own set of unique qualities for hunting and many obstacles for him to overcome. While Todd prefers the “suburbs” style of hunting he also does some “mountain” hunting on land his parents own when he wants a change of scenery and style of deer hunting.
Todd's scouting produces good looks at many great deer, but nailing movement patterns down on some of these deer in the “suburbs” can prove to be tricky as not only do these deer change constantly, but with development the terrain also changes from week to week.
There are a few bucks Todd would like to see walk by him on stand this year. He does not have much history with any of the deer listed on his hit list, as his hunting locations have changed drastically from last season, but by the footage of some of these deer in velvet, the upcoming hunting season is looking pretty good!
Todd's Hit List
“SPLITS”: This is obviously a mature deer with unique split G2’s and is close to an area Todd is able to hunt, he got this footage in early August while the buck was out trying to get the nutrients he needs to get him through the rest of the year. Hopefully this buck continues to stay close and does not slip into nocturnal mode or get pushed to another area too early in the season.
“BOOTS”: Because of recent and ongoing development, this buck and some other deer have been pushed into the area and cut-off from another area they regularly roamed. The drawback is that there are a lot of other hunters to deal with in this area. For Todd to get close to this deer it will have to happen right away during the early part of the season or possibly during the rut. This buck is notable because of the white “boots” on his back hooves.
