John Bulgrin's 2010 Hit List
"Crabclaw"
The Crabclaw buck is returning from my hit list last year. He is a five-year-old typical 12 point. I had an encounter with him on the opener last year and one during the rut. He is back hitting the same food so he will be my target for the opening weekend.
"Hooks"
Hooks is a four-year-old ten point. Last year
he was 9 point I passed but
this year he has
really put on mass. He resides on the same farm as Crabclaw
so we'll see if I can hold out.
"Home 8"
Home 8 is a four-year-old that is on my home farm. Last year we passed him and he was about 140 inches. This year he put on some mass so he had better look out since I love big eight pointers.
"The Freak"
This is a three-legged deer I had seen in the rut last year. Don't know how he lost the leg but he is cool looking. I have two young men that are running the camera for me this year that have not taken a buck with the bow. Either of them would be happy to take him for a ride in their truck. So we will try to capture that.
John and Brian's 2009 Hit List
The following words are John's.
"FATTY": The story with fatty starts two years ago when I found one of his sheds and I estimated him to be three and a half years old. Last year, we had no early trail camera pictures of him and then in the rut he showed up. Being it was an earn-a-buck area, he escaped with only a couple of close up pictures on a friend,s cell phone as he stood under my tree! Then I made it a point to hunt him during the muzzleloader season. I had two encounters with him and the second buck on our list, the "Crab Claw 12" at a distance of 150 yards but, with open sights I decided not to chance it. He has given us only one trail camera picture. Because his bedding area is so close to the food plot where he feeds, we have decided to leave him alone until we are ready to hunt that stand.
"CRAB CLAW": This deer showed up last year during the muzzleloader season with "Fatty". He looked to be a 3 1/2 year old last year. I looked hard for his sheds this spring with no luck. Unfortunately, I only found many human tracks in my hunting area where I’m guessing someone found the sheds for me. Well, he is still there and is very willing to have his picture taken. He seems to hit the same food plot every night. Let’s hope he keeps that up.
"SPLITS": 'Splits" is on a new farm I leased and I am hoping to have some more history with him soon. So far we only have trail camera pictures of him. With that, he looks to have some cool character and looks like he is at least 3 1/2 years-old. Keep checking back to see if we have any updates for you about "Splits".
"CURLY": "Curly" is a bit of a mystery. He showed up and we don’t know much about him. We have pictures and have watched him feeding from a distance. So we look forward to having some encounters with him this season.
