The McMullen Family

20090827151034270.jpgThe McMullen Family comes to us from southcentral Pennsylvania. They have been filming hunts for several years but just for the fun and the memories.  The McMullen family are bowhunters mainly, although they all started out using rifles.  Chris's dad, George, started hunting when he was a kid with his brothers.  They primarily hunted to put food on the table.  Then Chris started tagging along when he was about five years old.  Chris hunted with his dad, his uncles, or his grandfather, so whenever he had a free minute he had some type of weapon in his hands and was trying to harvest some type of game.

Along came his son, Grant, and Chris took him hunting every chance he got, from the time he was old enough to carry on Chris’s shoulders as they hunted mushrooms in the spring.  As Grant got older, he naturally turned to hunting and harvested his first deer his first year of legal hunting and has not stopped since.

The McMullen family enjoys spring gobbler hunting also. Their family lives to hunt and no matter what the time of year it is, they are thinking about hunting, whether setting tree stands and scouting in the summer, hunting in the fall, wishing they were hunting in the winter, or turkey hunting in the spring.  They are going to film their season and show to you right here on Midwest Whitetail.  In the end, hopefully, they will get some kills for the camera.   Either way, the McMullen’s will have a good time and will make lasting memories that they can share with the rest of their family and friends.

The McMullen's Hit List

The following words are from the McMullens.

"HIGH NARROW 8": Probably not a shooter this year but an up and comer.  His body appears to be pretty small which is why we think he is a younger deer.  His rack would look really good if we see him coming in during season so it will be interesting to see what happens to this deer as the year goes on.

"WIDE 8": An older deer based on body size and a definite shooter.  His rack is fairly wide so that's why we decided to give him the name the "Wide 8".  If he is an older deer then he is going to be a tough one to locate in the early season.  This may mean that we have to wait until later on in the season to go after him.

"FREAK": Can you say freaky?  We have never seen a buck on our property quite like this one.  "Freak" is a buck that we would love to take out because of his genetics.  His right side appears to be messed up.  However, he wouldn't look to bad in the back of the truck this hunting season.

"LEFT FREAK": Just when we thought we had gotten another picture of "Freak", we took a closer look and discovered that this buck is messed up on the left side. After that we decided that he deserved the name "Left Freak". Another unusual buck that one of us would definitely like to tag in bow season.

"POPE AND YOUNG": This buck is a possible book buck so we are naming him "Pope & Young".  This may be the biggest buck on our hit list this year.  He looks older based on his body so that makes him an automatic shooter when he comes past this season.
