20090831125622934.jpg Drew Yarkosky grew up whitetail hunting with family and friends from the area.  He quickly developed a strong passion for the sport.  From there, Drew went off to school at Simpson College where where he is using his passion for whitetail hunting to make a career out of it.  He is majoring in communications and is producing shows for the Midwest Whitetail Wisconsin Show this year.  However, Drew doesn't spend all of his time worrying about hunting, he also plays catcher for the Simpson baseball team.  This combination of activites takes up a lot of Drew's time during the fall and causes him to be on the road a lot traveling between school and the Midwest Whitetail office.

Drew spends most of his hunting season on the family farm in southern Iowa.  This year, Drew has worked hard scouting and adding more food plots to get all he can out of his farm this fall.  He will be hunting and filming with his brother this year. With a great number of stands hung, Drew can't wait for October 1 to get here.

"Curly"

This buck is no stranger to the Yarko sky f

arm as he has been there since Midwest Whitetail began in 2008. For the past two seasons, I've received tons of trail cam pictures from this big eight and watched him grow since he was 3 1/2 in 2008.  I hunted him last year but couldn't get him within bow range last fall. Sure enough, Curly showed up on the cameras in mid-July this year and I've been itching to get into a stand in October to get on this guy. Pre-rut is the time frame I believe I have the best shot at this bruiser because this is when he's been most vulnerable in the past few years. There's no doubt I'lbe in a big oak late October waiting for Curly to cruise by.

"Moe"

Along with Curly, I have been after this guy for the past few years. Moe's history began in 2007 when I received pictures of him as a 2 1/2. He kept his junk into the 2008 season but just was too young. In 2009 he became a legitimate shooter and made the hit list, however, he never presented me with an encounter. Moe showed up once again this summer and is a buck I plan to get after. I hope my brother Joe can shoot this one if we're in a tree together, but if not, there's no way I'll let this deer get another year on the Yarkosky farm.  Moe seems to be most vulnerable during the rut.

Drew's 2009 Hit List

Along with producing, Drew spends some his season running the camera for Bill Winke.  He will also have the opportunity to carry his bow while filming Bill so don't be suprised if he goes from being the cameraman to the hunter in just a few seconds.

"LARRY":  "Larry" showed up last summer while Drew was out velvet scouting.  Drew was able to get some good footage of him which is in the video to the right.  He was then able to see him 3 more times after he had the first encouter with him in early October.  In all of the encounters, Drew could never get a good shot at Larry.  During the most memorable encouter,  Drew was climbing down from the stand after a long morning hunt and "Larry" came running up behind him and stopped.  "Larry" stood at 20 yards for five minutes before walking off.  Drew looks to get back at "Larry" this year by putting an arrow in him at 20 yards instead of just watching him.  After hunting season ended, Drew found the sheds from "Larry" letting the young hunter know that the buck made it through the year without getting shot.

"Larry" is a very active deer during daylight hours.  This is going to help Drew when it comes to killing him in October. Drew plans on hunting "Larry" in a very large section of timber where he will use secluded food plots to bring him into bow range.
