Cole Sandstrom works as a Registered Nurse for the State of Wisconsin. He resides in central Wisconsin with his wife Shannon and three children Colton(10), Savanna(7) and Landon(5). His passion is chasing giant whitetails. Hunting is a strong tradition in the Sandstrom family, evidence of his children hunting with him last year on Midwest Whitetail. This year, Colton(10) is excited to try to shoot his first deer. His goal is to harvest a buck with both bow and gun. They have been working all summer putting in food plots, setting stands and patterning deer with cameras. They will be hunting mostly private land, which consists of hardwoods mixed in with marsh in the heart of Amish country.

20090901123314755.jpgNeal Kroll is married with two children.  He works full-time and has been hunting Wisconsin for over 20 years. The land Neal hunts mainly consists of hardwoods and marsh.  He tries to get out in the woods chasing whitetails as much as possible.   This year Neal, and his hunting partner Cole, are going to hunt hard throughout central Wisconsin and try to bring you some great footage of big whitetails.

2010 Hit List

"Left Over"

"Left-Over" in 2010.
This buck we have followed closely last season. We told ourselves that we would give him another year and then reevaluate him at that time. He made it through last year and has put on quite a bit of mass and height putting him on our hit list to harvest this year.

This is what "Left-Over" looked like in 2009.

Every time we see this deer he is only revealing his head. He appears to be one of the bucks from last year that we also were following. It doesn't look like he has grown much and after a family discussion we are putting him on the list to harvest this year.

We only have one picture of this buck so far. It is difficult to accurately

predict his age from this view. We are putting him on our list at this time, however we will make the final decision about harvesting him once he presents his whole body.

"Straight 8" (from last year’s list - see video below)

This buck was on our hit list last year. He was always with the G-3 buck which we harvested in early October. We seen him only once last year in early November, but he was always on the move. This year we haven't been able to catch on film, but did see him as we bumped him out of an alfalfa field on our way filming. He remains a perfect 8pointer but added a lot of mass and a good inch in width.

"STRAIGHT EIGHT": This buck is left over from last year.  We had him at approx 10 yds along with the G-3 buck.  We saw them throughout the year - always together.  Even as late as November, in the peak of the rut, they walked together right under Neal and I. These deer have a unique bond unlike I've yet to see from any other deer.  We decided that both deer would benefit greatly from another years worth of growth.  Boy did it pay off!

"G-3 BUCK": This buck is the "Straight 8's" partner.  He has a big, mature body which immediately puts him on our hit list.  We have seen him a number of times with "Straight 8" so we are hoping that if one is around this fall, they will both be around.

20090901123343303.jpg"NOCTURNAL": This deer is truly a giant this year.  However he is up to his old tricks.  Last year on stand, we saw him a handful of times, however it was always after shooting hours (hence the name "Nocturnal").  This year we have seen him twice only, both times in an alfalfa field.  He comes alone and is not part of a bachelor group.  He is also the last deer to enter the field well after dark.  We have been unable to film him this year for that very reason.  He also seems to know exactly where we place our cameras because, so far this year, he has avoided being caught.  He is truly a majestic, wise old whitetail.  I guess that is why he has been able to get this big.  He appears to have 16 pts this year and pushing 180" plus.  It would be an honor to harvest this great deer and we are hoping that we will encounter him midday in November.  Before that I am afraid he will remain "Nocturnal" in more ways than one.
