In 2002, Leo purchased his first compound bow and flintlock muzzleloader. This allowed him to hunt another 8 full weeks in Pennsylvania. The first six weeks of archery season, especially the first two weeks in November, completely changed his approach and way of hunting whitetails. He will never forget the first time he hunted the rut, though he tries to forget about the beautiful 8-point he shot over that same year.
Whether it's a missed opportunity, another day in the woods or a successful hunt, Leo always learns something new each time he steps into the great outdoors. Leo takes part in whatever outdoor activity he can. Whether it's a picnic with the family or calling to a hot gobbler, either way he is enjoying what he loves most, his family and friends. Leo gives great thanks to his wife for taking the time to put up with him and his ever-growing hobby of hunting. Leo hunts hard and puts in countless hours of scouting. He takes care of all the off-season chores while his hunting partner, Adam Fox, is away playing ball. They make a perfect team.
"Tower Jr." - Tower Jr. is a buck we have some history with from last year. We saw him in the stand the first week of the season. We are glad he caught out wind last year because he turned into a tall 10 point this year. So far, he is following the same pattern Jaws did last year and we all know how that ended. Hopefully, we end up with the same result this year.
"Jaws Jr." - Jaws Jr. is another buck we have a lot of history with. This buck and Jaws were best friends last year during the early season. We saw these two together everywhere. Even when the season started they were still hanging out. We saw them several times, at night, with each other, getting out of the stand. That is until Oct. 9th rolled around and Adam put a perfect arrow in Jaws. The heart broken Jaws Jr. never showed again until this year. He has changed his pattern a lot from last year. He is always by himself and likes to use the draw opposite sife of the field. If he keeps this pattern up, it will bot be long before him and Jaws are best friends again.

"Split Brow" - As we mentioned in the hit list show, he is not the biggest buck in Pa, but he sure has a lot of character. The left brow tine splits three times and makes him a very interesting wall piece. He does present a couple problems for us to hunt him. He likes the thick very over grown rhododendron cover close to the road. He likes to work from the front of the property to the back. There are a couple situations we might be able to hunt this buck....if not there is always November.
Adam and Leo's 2010 Hit List
This Buck showed up in 2008 in Velvet and was Immediately put on our Hit list for 2009. We never did have any encounters with this buck last year but He showed himself again in 2010 and will be on the Top of our list. He has it all... Width, Mass, and Tine Length and will probably be the Highest Scoring Deer on our farm this season. Most Important this deer is at Least 5 1/2 yrs old and is fully mature. We look forward to having a heart-pounding encounter with this buck either in the first few days of the season or in November. Much of our efforts will be geared toward getting this buck on the ground this season.
"Jaws"
Jaws has been very photogenic this early 2010 season and seems to be forming a pretty predictable pattern. Not sure if this buck is fully mature and we may need to let him walk but nonetheless he looks to be a good buck on trail camera. He has a nice 8 point rack with good width and mass. He is definately at least 3 1/2 and appears to have a big healthy body. This may be a premier buck for us next year. This buck seems to have a small core area with which he is very active in. I hope he is on his feet alot in early season to give us some action.

h Tower, Tower, Tower!!! This buck sure did put me on the edge of my seat last season with Multiple
in season trail camera pictures and 2 defferent encounters in November. He even looks bigger with the naked eye. This Buck has not shown up on the Cameras this season
but I have been reluctant to put any cameras up in what I think is his Core area. This buck is a loner now at 5 1/2 yrs. old and may be the only other buck on the farm that will
score better than "the Big Ten" His Body Size is absolutely massive and His high Rack with Split G1's on his right side is nothing short of awesome! He is one of those
"Dream Bucks" and I expect him to have put on at least 15 to 20 more inches this season with some junk to go with it. I will follow the pattern I used last year to try to capture
him on trail camera During the season. If I put this bad boy on the ground this year you will see on excited dude on Midwest Whitetail Northeast!
We have some video footage and some trail camera pictures of the buck we call "King" but they are not the best pics you could ask for. He seems to stay back when other bucks are around and sort of lay low. If this is any indication of what it will be like to hunt him then we might have a tough time getting this big fella. He looks to have a really nice high rack that almost touches at the tips of the main beams. He is a 9 pointer and may be one of those bucks that given another year we could see a super stud.
This will be a great buck to harvest this year for the Fox/Simbeck crew strictly because we know he will be a challenge to even see once there is some pressure. This buck has showed up several times over the past three years with pretty much the same exact rack on his head. We assumed he was a 3 1/2 yr old in 2008 but he may have been even older then. He is at least 5 1/2 this year but I have a feeling he is even older, possibly the oldest buck on our property. He will not score great, maybe 120's but that is no big deal. The fact that he is so old is what will make him a true Midwest Whitetail Trophy.
"Boss Man"
Boss Man gets his name because he is clearly king of the hill. He is located in about 30,000 acres of PA State Forest and Game Land. I have plenty of trail camera pictures and videos of him. He will be a tough buck to harvest because of the terrain and limited access to the area.
"Thriller"
The first picture is the buck as a 2 1/2 year old, and the only set ofpictures I was able to get of him were all between 2 and 4 A.M. I thought he was dead after 2007 when I never had any game camera pictures of him again.
Well he showed up the other night in the same exact area just like he did in 07, 2 weeks before the season at 4 A.M. as a mature 4 1/2 year old stud. It would be something special if I killed him. Even capturing him on film in daylight hours would be a treat. This is why he got his name "Thriller" From the Michael Jackson video, "They only come out at night"!
