20110721102020844.jpgBrian Knochenmus is President of Camden Outdoors, LLC, the manufacturer of Xecute Scent Control, and Game Tender.  Brian’s deer hunting career began as a youth in Southwest Minnesota hunting with friends and family.  His love for the sport transformed to a zeal when he picked up a bow in 2001.  He loves to travel, but there is no place like home.  Bow hunting in Southwest Minnesota may lack for trophy bucks, but it makes harvesting one that much sweeter!  It has been 3 years since Brian has had even a shot at a P&Y class buck in Minnesota, but with the addition of some hunting land and good food plot management, be hopes to add to his trophies in 2011.
Brian’s life priorities are God, Family, Business and Hunting respectively.  He serves as an elder and worship leader at his church, and he and his wife Mindy have five children: Olivia, Odessa, Owen, Oakley and Osiah.

2011 Hit List

"Iron Horse" Here is a deer that Brian had several great encounters with in the 2010 season.  He was too young, so the opportunities were passed on, but this year Iron Horse promises to be a good 3 year old.  The deer’s primary area centers around a heavily used railroad, thus his name, and Brian has access to land right in his core area.   He is an aggressive deer that responded to rattling in 2010, so Brian looks to zero in on this deer during the pre-rut phase.

"Cutter"  Cutter got a pass from 2 bow hunters in 2010, Brian and a neighboring property owner.  They both learned that the other passed on him after the season, so the friendly competition has begun.  Let it be known that if Neighbor Tom gets this deer first, it will be celebrated and we hope to have a spot on the show to tell his story, Cutter’s story.  This deer absolutely LOVES Rack Back from Frigid Forage, so his headgear promises to be worthy of a shot this year!  Early season is Brian’s plan for two reasons: one is that it is a very pattern oriented deer, and two, he has to beat Tom to him!

"Face Off"  Face Off got his name in 2009 as a two year old when Brian and Jeff were walking in to set up a stand.  This 9 pt stood up 20 ft in front of them and froze time.  The first to move was the deer, but not before they got a great look at him.  Face off was captured several times on trail cameras, but only seen during daylight on a January 1 pheasant hunt.  So indeed Face Off made it through the season, but he’s a bugger to locate due to his evasive and nocturnal personality.  He travels the same area as Cutter, but is always alone, where cutter is frequently with other deer.  It is interesting to see two deer so close in age and genetics, yet act so differently.  Face Off will be a 4 year old deer this year, and Brian hopes that rut will get the best of him.

2010 Hit List

The following are Brian's words.

"DH": "DH" is my big hitter for 2009, and carries the initials of my late neighbor who passed away this summer.  This deer travels through the deep ravine behind my house, and I’ve only got him on camera once this summer so far.  I passed on this deer last year in late December because as a 3 year old he was beginning to show some G5’s. He’s got a beautiful frame and I’m hoping he blows into a 150+ 12 point by September.  We are searching hard for this buck but he’s an elusive bugger.

20090923101429112.jpg"SCOOP":  "Scoop" is a 10-pt on our Headwater Farm.  I’ve got some early pictures of Scoop, but  we actually saw him on August 15th when Jeff and I were hanging stands.  We were walking the edge of the trees and corn to the tree we were going to put the stands in, and heard a deer get up about 15 yards ahead.  There he was! The deer on the Headwater Farm have been tough to get on camera mid and late summer because it is all corn this year.  But now we’ve got our set-up where we know he’s been spending his time.  He’s got G2’s and G3’s in the 9-10 inch range and is somewhere around 18 inches wide.

20090923101431374.jpg"T8 and W8": These two 8-point bucks are borderline for this year, but I have them on my hit list yet because I don’t have a lot of history on this farm, so this fall will be my first good look at these deer.  "T8" looks to have good main beams and his rack sits nice and high on his head.  "W8" appears to be no more than a 3 year old, but has good width.  I may pass on these guys , but I’ll be a better judge when I get a look come September.

Above is a picture of "T8" and to the left is a picture of "W8".  Two very nice bucks that would look good hanging on the wall at the end of the year.
