Jeff's Hit List

The following words are Jeff's:

MY 7 and 8”: These two bucks are "My 7 and 8". They live in close proximity to our home.  Either one would get my approval during archery season.  You can tell by the picture that I won't have to go far to hunt them if they stick around.  I'm sure as the season starts up, they are going to want to find another place to live.

FORKY 9”: "Forky 9" has been alive for at least 5 years and would make a great deer for any area. I have only seen him once so far this summer and have not been able to get him yet on film. He is one nocturnal deer and typically disappears until after gun season.  We always try and figure him out, as this is the first year we have found both if his sheds after years of trying. We have hundreds of photos of him in late season. Perhaps this will be the year?

MAYBE 8": I believe this buck is a piebald, but I have yet to get a picture of him in the daylight to ensure this fact. We have had piebald deer on this farm in the past.  Time will tell, but if he is a piebald and shows up near my stands later on, he would more than likely become a movie star, to fill the freezer and serve as a unique trophy.

6 POINT”: This 2 ½ year old six point is named appropriately because he is still a big six point. If given the opportunity this fall, he needs to go because most likely he isn't getting much bigger as he gets older.

MYSTERY BUCK”: This big 8 point buck is a 4 1/2 year old or maybe even 5 1/2 year old this year. I have yet to get a good picture of him this year, but he is still alive. I think this half photo is him  and you can see from last summer he is a really good deer for our area, for sure a shooter this year or any other.

BIG 7”: This Big 7,  I believe he is a 3 ½  year old buck that really needs to come off of this property as we certainly would prefer that his genes don’t get passed along. He is the dominant buck and appears to be aggressive already when  around other bucks. I have other pictures of this deer as a 2 year old from last summer.  He will certainly get an arrow if he shows up this fall.

CLUSTER”: This deer is a 3 ½ year old that hangs around with a deer I call "Big 7". These two are buddies right now with "Cluster" being the subordinate buck in the group. His left G2 and G3 both are growing from what appear to be the same base. That is the reason I named him "Cluster".  I would happily shoot either one.

PLAIN 8”: Here is a 2 ½  year old plain 8, a fine deer for anyone to shoot in our county. We have a number of bucks like this, so hence the name "Plain 8". I wouldn’t pass him up come October.

TIPS”: I named this buck "Tips" because his left antler beam goes in a funny downward direction at the end of the beam. He looks to be a 2 ½ year old and would be a nice deer for our area here in central PA.

GOOFY”: This buck I named "Goofy" because his right side has always been messed up.  He shows no apparent injury, but there has to be a reason for his strange antler growth. I first saw him last year in late season. He made it through winter and would be a very interesting buck to kill this fall. He is a 3 or 4 year old, for sure. Pretty nocturnal due to the hunting pressure surrounding him. We will see what happens later in the year.
