This is the buck I shot on November 5, one of the few really good days we
have had to the rut so far this year.  You can watch the hunt Thursday on the
Main Show.
The best hunting of the season so far, took place on two dates, October 30 and November 5.  We were into plenty of big deer on both days and so were many of the other guys I compare notes with.

Unfortunately, the dates that should have been even better (Nov. 6 - 10) had their legs cut out from under them by the heat.  However, we have been able to shoot a few good bucks.

We didn't really do anything special or different to accomodate the heat, we simply hunted the same places we always hunt and put in our time.  We saw less daytime activity than we did last year, by a long shot.  Last year the timeframe from Nov. 6 through Nov. 10 was rockin'.  This year it was very subdued.  When the bucks aren't cruising during the day, they become much harder to kill.

I hate it that we wait all year for one week and then when it gets here, the weather kills the party.  I hope you are having some luck, we are fighting hard, but mostly losing the battle.

By the way, we will have six new shows on Thursday: The normal Northeast show and the normal Indiana show plus second shows from Missouri, Iowa, Main Show and Ohio.  So if you are getting bored at work or in school on Thursday or Friday, I am pretty sure we will have something that will cure your blues.

Good luck and please be careful.
