Easter Egg Hunt
The other day I helped at a down syndrome support group for children. It was an Easter event and of course they had an easter egg hunt! It was a lot of fun to watch these kids laugh, search and get down on their hands and knees all for a plastic egg with a nugget of candy! It all seemed a little ridiculous to me!
Two days later I found myself laughing, searching, and getting on my hands and knees for a couple old pieces of bone (sheds)! No longer did it seem foolish or even slightly ridiculous. I didn't care that I had walked miles or that I had "wasted" three hours of my weekend! I was having the time of my life! I had the same joy that I had seen in those youngsters!
As I pondered the difference of the two events, I realized that perspective made all the difference. As my dad puts it, "Ignorance is Bliss"! So the next time you hit the woods to look for sheds, mushrooms, or arrowheads remember that you are still a kid! Have the time of your life!
