While this may not be the perfect time to establish a new mineral site (early spring is better), you can still expect to see some deer activity over the site during the next few months. Deer stop using mineral sites around the time the bucks shed their velvet (early September).
Many people use mineral sites as attractants to bring deer (not coons and crows) to their trail cameras. Our friend Scott Prucha offers a video that shows exactly what he puts into his mineral mixes and how he establishes a new mineral site.
You may wish to save this video as a favorite and come back to it next spring. You may also want to use Scott's mix to save some money on your mineral purchases as you freshen existing sites. Either way, the video is interesting.
