John Bier is 35 years old and lives in Stacy, MN with his wife Melissa and their one year old twin boys John and Joe. John was a cement finisher for 15 years but just recently changed jobs. He now works as a field inspector for the Minnesota Dept. of Transportation.
When John was 9, he started going along with his dad hunting pheasants and ducks. He couldn't carry a gun yet, but loved being out with him. When John turned 12 it was finally his turn to have a weapon. He didn't start bowhunting until he was 14, but John knew on his first day that bowhunting would be his favorite style of hunting hands down.
In the years since, John has bowhunted for whitetails in Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, North and South Dakota. Mule deer in North and South Dakota, elk in Colorado, antelope in Wyoming , turkeys in Nebraska ,Wisconsin and Minnesota, bears in Ontario and pretty much everything he can in Minnesota. This fall John will be partnering up with Mark Blumhoefer to hunt and film for the Minnesota show. The areas they will be hunting are mostly in the north metro area of Minnesota, but they will also be spending some time in the Hinckley/Sandstone area as well as Missouri.
Mark Blumhoefer lives in Wyoming, MN with his wife Lisa. Mark started rifle hunting with his dad when he was 16 years old. At 17, Mark was introduced to his favorite passtime, bowhunting. Mark is involved with Quality Deer Management and has created several food plots on the land he leases with friends in Hinckley. About 10 years ago, Mark started hunting with friend John Bier. Together they will be hunting in the Hinckley and Stillwater areas. They also like to travel to Iowa and North Dakota. This year they will also be hunting in northern Missouri.
John and Mark's 2010 Hit List
"Storm"
This is a buck from the Stillwater area. He got his name when we went to check the cameras and there were tornado warnings all around us. We encountered him last October when he showed up on the camera. We think he is a 4 1/2 year old 8 pointer in the 130s. We had a picture of him this year the first week we put the camera out. At this point he is on the top of our hit list bucks.
"The Big Ten"
We don't have a lot of history with this buck and think he is going to be a hard one to get. We have lots of night pictures of him in the Stacy area. We think he will go in the 150s and don't know about his age. We have a new property in the area and think he is coming out of that property. For right now we are going to call him The Big Ten until we get to know him a little better.
"No Brow "
This buck is from the Hinckley area. We call him that because last year he had no brow tines. This year he grew small ones and we were happy to see he made it with all the heavy gun pressure in the area around us. We think he is a 3 1/2 year old border line buck this year yet.
