We are just about there!
Over the last few months and weeks we have been working hard to get everything together for another great season here at Midwest Whitetail. Most of the staff from last year will be with us again and we have added some great new staff that will help to improve the show. It’s been a lot of work but I think we are ready to get going and start bringing you the weekly shows.
This week we will be launching our promo show followed by our 1st episode on August 25th. You are going to love the deer we are on this year. They say that every year things generally get bigger and better and there is no exception here. I’m sure you’ll agree after watching our promo show and the hit list shows over the next few weeks.
Besides getting the production team up and running I have been doing a ton of work in the woods. This last week I top dressed one of my turnip plots which is looking pretty good. I have had a trail cam on this spot for a few weeks now and the deer are using the area a ton more than they had in the past. Lets just hope they keep that pattern through the season. I have also been spending some time down in Red Wing. I will be hunting an area down there which has some great deer and some great terrain. Its going to be a ton of fun. Most of my stands are hung and its time to wait! Lets hope this next month goes by fast.
Now i’m going to hand things over to a few of the teams that will be hunting Minnesota hard this year. We will be using the blog to bring you various updates through-out the year so please check back!
Southeast, MN
Hello from Southeast MN. The season is vast approaching and here in MN I have had my stands up for a couple of months and everything seems to be ready to go. My food plots are healthy as ever and very excited to get my camerawomen.. Yes thats right... Jill will be behind the camera and we both cant wait to share the woods and our hunts together. But our first hunt this year will be in North Dakota on Sept 3rd were we just came back from placing stand sets, cameras, clearing lanes, setting camera arms and of course.... swatting mosquitoes! The deer sign sign looks good with some good deer in the area. The farm consists of soybeans, corn, great bedding and is set along a river that runs all the way through the property. Hopefully we can catch these deer coming from there beds and heading out to the fields to eat and get some water. North Dakota has produced some giant bucks lately and we are hopefully going to put our tag on a early season full velvet mature buck. Keep checking back on this MN blog to follow our season. Good luck and most of all stay safe.

Scouting, hanging stands, and filming deer. This is what Midwest Whitetail-Southeastern Minnesota has been up to. It has been a very hot summer for us so far, but that doesn’t matter when it comes to whitetails. Finding the time to get out to film and scout new areas has been tough for us this year, but job or no job, we make time to get to the deer.
We are new to Midwest Whitetail- Minnesota this year; we focus hard on trying to contribute the best footage possible. It is going to be a tough early season, due to the fact that one of our favorite fields during this time is now corn, rather than beans or alfalfa. Due to this, we have been searching hard for some great new spots to hunt for the early season. We had a good idea where to look being that we collectively found around forty sheds last year throughout our hunting territory.
Our zones are allowing us to harvest an increased number of does this year so we are very pumped to put our Hoyt’s to the test and send some rocket broad heads through some does. As far as out hit list goes, it is going to be tough to decide which spots to hunt first. We have quite a few properties to this cover this season and they all look to have great bucks to harvest. We can’t wait to get out there, do some hunting, and bring it all back to our viewers at Midwest Whitetail-Minnesota.

It’s been a slow start to the season so far for John and I. Cameras have been slow going with lots of doe and fawn pictures last week we started to get some small bucks on camera. We finished up with all the fall food plots last weekend too. Hope the 6 inches of rain this week didn’t wash it all away. One nice thing the rain has made our 3 acres of corn we planted in the spring looking really good. Just hope the bears stay out of it the next few weeks. We also trimmed out a few trees over some of our food plots all together we have about 6 foods plots totaling about 9 acres. We put out a few more cameras hoping to get a few pictures of two nice bucks we had on trail cameras last fall during the hunting season. Time to hit the road have to check cameras. Check back in a week or two, hope to have a update on some bigger bucks that are on the move with the cooler weather moving in for next week.

Well, we are fast approaching the upcoming season. We have been putting a lot of time and effort into makeing this season a success. We don't just get to pick up our bows and go, we are constantly thinking about deer hunting, planning and preparing for the upcoming season. In all honesty it doesn't seem like there has been an off season for us. We started out by planting food plots and setting up mineral sites. We planted eight acres in soybeans and two acres in "Frigid Forage Trophy Clover Mix". We have had our trail cameras up all summer and have accumulated a few good bucks for our hit list this year. We are hoping that list continues to grow. We acquired some new property in North Dakota over the summer as well. In fact we just got back yesterday tired, sore and soaking wet but it was all worth it. We talked to land owners, scouted, hung stands, checked trail cameras, set up ground blinds and cut good shooting lanes. We have another food plot for late season that we just finished up about two weeks ago. This is located behind the other two plots to the South. We planted "Big and Beasty" by Frigid Forage on 2 1/2 acres. There are good deer numbers on the property now, but we are also hoping to draw in other deer from the surrounding properties and keep them there. So we are excited to get the season under way and to watch all of our hard work and efforts pay off.
