Josh Garrison has been closely following Midwest Whitetail for the last two seasons and couldn't be more excited to finally be joining the Ohio show as a prostaffer. Josh has a degree in Physical Education and works as a school teacher. He has a beautiful loving wife Jordan, who is very supportive and understanding when it comes to time spent afield. They recently had their first child, a daughter named Kenasyn.
Josh was introduced to the outdoors and hunting at a young age by his grandfather. Josh lives for the opportunities the great outdoors brings and enjoys the adventures he has in God’s creation. He loves the challenge that a mature buck brings to the table. As an avid bow hunter, most of Josh's scouting and planning is geared toward doing whatever it takes to get into close range of big bucks. His passion is putting the story line of a buck together. Capturing the history of a mature buck only makes it sweeter when the day of harvest comes. Trail cameras, shed hunting, scouting summer, fall, and winter ranges etc, all play a vital role in putting that story together for Josh.
This season Midwest Whitetail viewe rs will see Josh hunting with his best friend Tyler "Skinny" Thomas. Together, they have spent the last four seasons with one goal in mind, putting their tags on mature bucks while capturing it all on film. They hope to use their experience to showcase the majestic whitetail as they put all their efforts into tagging a couple big bucks from the great Buckeye state.
Josh's 2010 Hit List
"Gladiator"
This deer is right there at the top of our hit list. Scouting has proved that this deer is the dominant buck in the area, and one that deserves a lot of respect. We are excited to pursue and get to know this buck a lot better in the coming months.
"Spooky"
Here's another buck on our list. The name originated from his “spooky” behavior around trail cameras. With 4 years of history, we watched him suffer through an injury that affected his antler growth this year. Not a high scorer, but a mature buck we would love to harvest.
"Muley"
This buck is an oustanding 31/2 year old buck that we've been watching since last season. We have high hopes for this buck and odds are he'll get a pass to next season.
"Wrapper 8"
Here's another 3 1/2 year old buck that will probably walk. He's been around since last year and we are still undecided as to whether he will be taken if the opportunity presents itself. Once we see him in person, it will be a game-time decision on whether we take him or not.
"Scarface"
This buck is at least 5 years old and ranks high on the hit list.. Although this deer doesn't spend his summers on our farm, we have encountered him several times over the last 2 seasons. He's a brute of a buck that's definitely deserving of my tag.
