Growing up at the gateway to Yosemite National Park, my love for the outdoors was born in the hills of California. After being hunted down by Carolina Boy Jeff Bryant, I fell prey and am now a Carolina Girl. Although now a Carolina kid, I'm most proud of my Christian heritage and to be called a Kings Kid. The Lord is my everything and I've learned if I put him first, he works out all the details of life. Teaching children is my profession, serving God is my passion and monster bucks is what I'm chasin'.
Jeff says for me killing ain't everything, it's the only thing! I like it best when something hits the ground, so he says I'm not a hunter, I'm a killer:-) Keep up with me here on Midwest Whitetail OHIO and you make the call.
BEAN BELIEVERS by JEFF BRYANT
Nicole and I got the dust knocked off during the August 15 opening week of Lower SC Deer Season. With rifle in hand, Nicole was up to bat. The first bucks of the season came into the soybean field and christened the Nikons with plenty of camera light left. She picked out the prettiest buck of the three Nicole SC Shooters. It's a 125 yard swing and a miss with not even a whitetail belly hair to be found. Now poor Nicole is learning to deal with her first miss with the video being shown across the land to add salt to the wound. She's a pretty good sport and now knows the great importance of stabilizing all those human limbs while gently squeezing that trigger. With the beyond liberal bag limits in Lower SC, my mouth is still watering remembering those bucks running out of the field!
On a brighter note the deer are demolishing the beans here near the house in NC. Question is, will they go nuts over the nuts that will soon be raining from the Oaks above? My hope is that they stay centralized in the beans before spreading out into the sea of nuts for the September 10 season opener. If so, I like calming my nerves by putting a good southern deer on the ground early with a Rocket Arrowhead from my Hoyt. It's great practice with the bow for the Big Show in Ohio.
